The Magnolia School promotes learning how to think not what to think.
In a nutshell...
The Magnolia School is a private, nonprofit K-8 school founded in 1985 on the idea that children have a natural inclination to learn that should be nurtured and allowed to flourish in a safe and caring environment. We are steadfastly committed to:
multi-age classrooms (K-2, 3-5, 6-8);
10-1 student-teacher ratio;
a small size (intentionally fewer than 60 students in the whole school);
Our Philosophy...
We believe that children learn in different ways and at different rates. With one teacher for every 10 students, we can plan for each child’s interests, abilities and learning style.
We believe that children need to move about. We provide 15 minutes of outdoor play at snack time, and 45 minutes at lunchtime.
Our Approach...
We use a theme-based learning model, which mimics the natural learning process and allows the brain to make connections between disparate bits of information. It also is a powerful model to prepare our students for the modern world of work, which puts a high value on the ability to synthesize knowledge from different sources, solve problems, and work with others.
